ChowMultiTool is a "Swiss Army Knife" plugin containing several tools that might be useful to have in your DAW. The tools include:
Build-Your-Own-Distortion (BYOD) is an audio plugin that allows the user to create custom guitar effects, with a focus on guitar distortion. The plugin contains emulations of guitar distortion and tone-shaping circuits from various, along with a handful of other useful effects. BYOD supports the following desktop plugin formats: VST3, AU, CLAP, AAX, Standalone, and LV2, as well as Standalone and AUv3 on iOS devices.
Chow Tape Model is a digital emulation of a reel-to-reel analog tape machine. The original algorithm was developed to emulate the Sony TC-260, but has since been expanded to be able to model a wide variety of tape machines.
Chow Tape was originally developed as part of the Music 420 class at Stanford University. The project led to an academic paper, "Real-Time Physical Modelling for Analog Tape Machines which was presented at the 2019 DAFx Conference.
Chow Matrix is an infinitely growable delay effect, with complex internal modulation and feedback. With extra features including pitch-shifting, diffusion, and distortion, the plugin can be used to create everything from subtle multi-tap delays to expansive reverberant spaces.
Chow Centaur is a digital emulation of the Klon Centaur guitar pedal. The plugin contains two modes, "Traditional" which uses traditional circuit modelling technicues, and "Neural" which uses a recurrent neural network to model the gain stage from the original Klon circuit. Chow Kick is a kick drum synthesizer based on creative physical modelling of old drum machine circuits. Along with a highly parameterizable pulse shaper, Chow Kick uses a resonant filter with several nonlinear modes, creating a wide range of possibilities for sound designers. The kick drum can also be easily "tuned" with incoming MIDI notes to match the key of your song!
Chow Phaser is a digital phaser effect originally inspired by the Schulte Compact Phasing 'A'. The plugin contains both mono and stereo modes, a "skewed" LFO modelled after the characteristics of light-dependent resistors, as well as nonlinear filters to add warmth and dirt.
ChowDSP has also released several modules for VCV Rack, including ports of ChowTape and ChowPhaser. Other modules include distortion effects, modal filters, and more.
